In the recently released trailer of BiskothSanthanam appears in multiple looks, with one even spoofing B√£hubali. The film’s director, Kannan, says the most challenging part to shoot was the one in which the actor appears as a Spartan. The team shot the portions for 15 days, with over four days dedicated to a massive fight sequence alone

Kannan says, “We wanted to make that period look realistic, but not cheap. So, art director Rajkumar, costume designer Priya and I spent a lot of time going through literature. We also referenced the Hollywood film 300 to get an idea of how they had envisioned the palace and Spartan people. We did a lot of rehearsals with costumes before finally shooting.”

Talking about the action sequence, he says, “We filmed a massive fight sequence with fireballs. Stunt master Hari Dinesh had choreographed the scene with 100 junior artistes. We had hired a floor in a city studio and used gas machines to light the fireballs. Since there were chances of fire accidents, we took a lot of precautions. There’s also a sword-fighting sequence and Santhanam trained in it for a few days.”

Apart from Santhanam, Anandraj, Motta Rajendra, Lollu Sabha Manohar, Bujji Babu and Sivasankar Master appear in these portions. “Swathi Muppala (Femina Miss India Karnataka 2017) appears as the queen, and so does Tara Alisha Berry. Anandraj alone speaks gibberish, a fun take on their language,” he says.

The makers of the Santhanam-starrer
Dikkiloona
recently released the three looks of the actor from the film — hero, villain and comedian.
Talking about the three roles, director
Karthik Yogi
elaborates, “Santhanam plays a middle-class guy, a sportsperson... and the third character is a surprise. It was quite challenging to shoot since he has three distinct roles. He took about 30-40 minutes to get into each look. There was this time when he changed his get-up 48 times in just one day.

Though it was tiring,
 took the responsibility sportingly.”
The sci-fi entertainer also stars Yogi Babu in an important role. “Well, he plays a mad scientist. Santhanam and Yogi Babu’s characters share a strong bond. Their chemistry is quite crackling,” smiles Karthik. The film also features Harbhajan Singh in an extended cameo.

The team is working on the post-production now. “We have begun dubbing as well. It is quite challenging because some of our people are stuck outside Chennai and they didn’t get an e-pass. We have taken the necessary precautions and are maintaining social distance. We want to finish the post-production and keep the film ready,” he signs off.
